The Ads on Instagram are really starting to annoy me. Is there any way to turn them off?

There are some methods you can try to tackle the endless ads in your feed as you scroll. While you probably won’t ever be free of seeing ads completely (BUMMER ) these strategies can cut down on their number and frequency.

1. Hide the ad

You can manually hide ads you come across on your Instagram feed.
click on the three dots in the top right of the post >  Hide ad
Instagram will ask you why you want to hide the ad, simply select a reason.

2. Report ad

Alternatively, you can manually report ads as they come up on your feed.
click on the three dots in the top right of the post > Report ad
NOTE: This is a more serious claim against the ad, so try to only use this option if there’s a more serious situation.

3. Block brand account

Finally, you can block each brand account as it advertises to you.
When you see a sponsored post, simply click on the company name to go to its profile. You’ll see a three-dot menu where you can block the account. You won’t see ads from this particular account after blocking.

Navigating through Instagram’s sea of ads can be a daunting task if you’re seeking an uninterrupted browsing and scrolling experience.

NOTE: This may not prevent them all but it should make a difference!

NEW SCAM TARGETING IPHONE USERS

ICYMI (IN CASE YOU MISSED IT) I posted a video about the new texting scam that is hitting iPhones everywhere. It’s a “smishing” attempt (short for SMS phishing) where you get a text from someone pretending to be Apple (even though it looks real) asking you to sign in to your account. Remember, NEVER CLICK A LINK IN A TEXT and NEVER EVER put any user credentials into a text.

Apple will never ask for that in a text. Period.

Speaking of Phishing - Here’s my top 10 ways to Avoid it!

Prime Day has come and gone - so how did you do? In my honest opinion, I felt prices were a bit high this year. AND - I didn’t like that I couldn’t see any prices of lightening deals unless I clicked into them. That’s just poor user design in my opinion.

ANYWAY - getting off my soapbox - but here is the one thing I did get that is now a new permanent fixture in my kitchen. (Molly and Mr. Bean aren’t sure about it yet.)

Want one too? For cats or dogs plus the sound is completely soothing!

Love, in all it’s forms, is the most powerful weapon we have, because love is a form of hope and, like hope, love abides in the face of everything.
